Shopping Safe Online

If you have ever used the Internet you will know that it is a fantastic resource for discovering information on any topic, as well as allowing you to bank, shop, and communicate with other people. Sadly, you may also have suffered a virus attack, received unwanted emails or been the victim of online fraud. Increasingly the Internet is being targeted by criminals and what used to be a minor irritation is becoming a major problem. The time has come to put to stop to it.

Expert advice for everyone

Get Safe online is an exciting joint initiative between the Goverment, the National Hi-Tech Crime Unit(NHTCU) and leading businesses, with the aim of helping individuals secure themselves against Internet treats.

Take control before someone else does

The Get Safe Online site (www.getsafeonline.org) contains nearly 100 articles, providing simple, reliable and practical security advice on a range of topics including: how to install anti-virus software, make backups, protect your privacy, set ground rules for children and how to shop, bank and use online auctions safely.

The articles have been written for everyone, not just personal computer (PC) experts, and because the site has nothing to sell, the advice is objective and balanced.

The NHTCU works to combat organised hi-tech crime in the UK. By taking a few minutes and following the three simple steps below you can help protect yourself and others by getting safe online today.
